You see a lot of these types of formations all over the hills in the area. They are mostly of limestone laid down when the whole area was part of a vast inland sea many millions of years ago. I think of them bones of the mountains. This one would be a backbone, as it runs the almost the entire length of the property along the highest point of the ridge.
